The AKM Story
AKM Projects provides a broad range of interior & exterior building solutions and project management services with experience within the Health & Aged Care, Government, Commercial, Hospitality, Heritage, Retail and Education sectors.
AKM Projects was established by Andy Marren in 1978 to service residential building sites. His son, Andrew Marren, joined AKM Projects in 2008, while Michael Kilroy who joined AKM as a Senior Project Manager in 2009, became a Director in 2013, to build upon the solid business foundations.
We pride ourselves on building quality projects and delivering care throughout the process. Our dedicated team are professional and experienced, most of whom having been with us for over 20 years. As a team, we remain attentive to both safety and our impact on the environment. Our devoted and competent approach to the project process ensures client objectives are met and exceeded.

Andrew Marren

As a qualified Chemical Engineer, Andrew is on site every day in a ‘hands on’ capacity to ensure that project delivery dates are met, customer satisfaction and quality standards are correctly applied and that this is all achieved without compromising Safety. Andrew likes to work closely with his clients at all stages of the project development to ensure that the final outcome will meet and hopefully exceed expectations. Andrew takes a personal interest in attracting and retaining the ‘right’ people to AKM Projects and makes sure that they will support and enhance our ethos of ‘Building Quality, Delivering Care.’

Michael Kilroy

Joining AKM Projects as a Senior Project Manager in 2009 during the BER program, Michael took the final leap to ‘having some skin in the game’ by becoming a Director of AKM Projects in 2013. A native of Newport in the west of Ireland, Michael is a qualified carpenter and completed a degree in Business from Galway GMIT. Since leaving Ireland, Michael has spent time in construction in both the United States and UK before arriving in Australia. Michael’s skill set and dedication to the needs of the client are reflected in his work ethic and the high standards that he not only holds for himself but of those around him. Outside of work, Michael retains an active interest in Irish football via AKM Project’s sponsorship of the Central Coast Gaelic Hurling & Football Club and is also an avid Liverpool FC supporter.

Tom O'Driscoll

A valued member of the AKM Projects Team since 2011, Tom O’Driscoll hails from Dublin. Tom completed his carpentry/joinery apprenticeship at Dun Laoghaire College in Dublin. Tom quickly established himself as a hardworking and popular member of the crew and his leadership skills were recognised when he put in charge of the modular building segment of our business. Commencing with factory construction, Tom was soon leading AKM to site establishment on interstate projects and ultimately full complexing of multi-storey buildings. Since then, Tom has played a key role in some of our biggest projects including Castle Hill & Winston Hills ARV.

Morgan Lalor

Arriving in Australia in April 2009 and then commencing with AKM Projects in September the same year, Morgan Lalor adds to the distinctly ‘green’ feel of AKM Projects. Morgan completed his training as a carpenter/joiner at GMIT at Galway in the west of Ireland. Since being with AKM, Morgan has led numerous projects including our fitout of Pittwater RSL for Paynter Dixon, numerous BER school sites and was our leading hand for our factory crew whilst we completed modular building works for APBB – often leading a team of up to 30 tradesmen. Now living in Hornsby in the northern suburbs, Morgan is married with two children and still finds time to play hurling.

Jessica Nguyen

Jessica Nguyen joined the AKM team in 2020 as a Project Delivery Coordinator in a role that complements her Project Management studies. In her role, Jessica works across the entire spectrum of AKM’s operations from tender evaluation and procurement, assisting with project delivery and customer compliance including certification. Jessica is a qualified interior designer and completed a degree at Sydney Design School. Jessica is skilled in: AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Cubit, Sales, Adobe Photoshop, and Office Administration. Outside of work, Jessica’s takes interest in: playing Rugby, netball, hiking and traveling.
